LIFE OF SAVITRI
Savitri Ganesan was born on January 4th 1936, Chirravuru , Guntur district,in a telugu speaking family.Her parents are Nissankara Guravayya and her mother was Nissankara Subhadramma.Her father died when she was six months old,her mother took savitri and a old sibbling to live with an aunt and uncle.
Savitri in her childhood acted in dance dramas,skits,etc.,She went to Madras as the south Indian film industry was located there before Andhra pradesh was divided from Tamil Nadu.But her trip was Unsuccessful as she was too young to play the role of a heroine.she was given a Minor role in ROopavati and patala Bhairavi.And eventually,she got a big break in Pelli chesi choodu.
And later,she did not turn back.Her movies became a big hit.she became to be known as MAHANATI.
she acted in 200+ movies.her career went to a rise.
she married to Gemini Ganesan in 1952 and she met him in 1948.But,ganesan was already married and had four daughters and was involved in a physical affair with Pushpavalli.Savitri knows all these but she did not took these things in to account.Many cinee people told her to not marry gemini but she did not react to those words or considered those as she was in deeply love with Ganesan,and she married him in a small temple in Madras .Later people eventually came to know about their secret marraige when she signed in some agreements as savitri ganesan .She was known for her Hospitality.she was so helpful to everyone and treated everyone with a respect.she gave birth to two children,a daughter and a son.
Her acting in Mayabazar was outstanding where she took frame with S.V.Rangarao who was so senior and respected actor in Films.In this movie, she has to play dual roles ,but she did it so well.Her career was going on so well.And she received several awards such as Rashtra pati award,Nandi Award.Her career went down at late 1960's.She got problems in her married life.She started to live seperately from Gemini.Her properties was seized by Tax Officials as she forgot about Tax Paying when she had problems in her marraige.She moved from a big bungalow to a normal house along with her son Sathish.she was totally addicted to alcohol.she started to act in all the movies that she likes to.Some people encouraged her to direct and prodce few movies which did not make good finance.Her position became too critical.Dasari Narayana Rao helped her by giving her a chance to act in several movies such as Gorintaaku(1979).Even in her critical time she used to help people by giving them money,food,etc.she developed diabetes,high blood pressure.She was drunken heavily in 1969.She was in Coma for 19 months.Many people prayed for her health,but unforfunately she got expired in 26 December 1981 at the age of 45.But,still everyone remember her as the greatest person of Telugu cinema 'MAHANATI'.Her tremendous acting was unforgettable.Her help to the needy,her hospitality,her love towards fans.,everything was marvellous."MAHANATI SAVITRI GARU LIVES ON".
